Architectural and other Applications

Our flat toughened monolithic and composite glasses are manufactured to industry standards for the relevant application.

The primary standards are the following:

British Standards:

  • BS6206A - Specification for impact performance requirements for flat safety glass and safety plastics for use in buildings
  • BS7376 - Specification for inclusion of glass in the construction of tables or trolleys.
  • BS7449 - Specification for inclusion of glass in the construction of furniture, other than tables or trolleys, including cabinets, shelving systems and wall hung or free standing mirrors.

European Standards:

  • EN1863 - Glass in buildings. Heat strengthened soda lime silicate glass. Definition and description.
  • EN12150 - Glass in building. Thermally toughened soda lime silicate safety glass. Definition and description.
  • EN12600 - Glass in building. Pendulum test. Impact test method and classification for flat glass.

  • BSAU178A / Emark Reg43 - Specification for road vehicle safety glass.

  • BR573 - Specification for Double Glazed Window Units for Use on Rolling Stock.
  • GM/TT0122 - Structural requirements for windscreens and windows on railway vehicles.
  • GM/RT2456 - Structural requirements for windscreens and windows on railway vehicles. (supersedes GM/TT0122)
  • Link-Up - Qualification for supply only of glazing units and mirrors for UK railway rolling stock.
  • MA24 - International Marine Standard for ship side scuttles - all vessels.
